Fisheries Minister S. Sarma will inaugurate the district-level celebrations of the fourth anniversary of the State government at Rajendra Maidan on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

Transport Minister Jose Thettayil will preside. During the more than a month long celebrations lasting till June 30, each department would organise at least one event.

Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will inaugurate the State-level anniversary celebrations. Ernakulam is the first to organise celebrations at the district level.

A people's gathering to be attended by 3,000-odd people would also be held in connection with the inauguration of the district-level celebrations. Benefits worth Rs. 5 crore would be distributed to 2,000 beneficiaries at the function. Besides, 700-odd title deeds and other land documents would also be given away.

MLAs, MPs, the Mayor, the district panchayat president and the District Collector would attend the function though the opposition legislators are determined to stay away.

The benefits of the Revenue, Fisheries, Agriculture, Labour, Social Welfare, and Scheduled Caste Development departments, and that under the Women's Development Corporation, Matsyafed, fish farmer's agency, Fisheries Welfare Fund, etc would also be given away at the function.

A photo exhibition of 300-odd photographs on the development programmes being undertaken at the State and district levels will also be held in connection with the event.

The exhibition will then be held at the taluk levels.

A book will be published at the district level in June highlighting the events organised in connection with the anniversary celebrations and the achievements of the last four years. Benefits of Rs. 5 crore to be distributed at the function include Rs. 25 lakh by the Revenue department, Fisheries department Rs. 25 lakh, Scheduled Caste Development department Rs. 5 lakh, Labour department Rs. 5 lakh, Industries department Rs. 1.8 crore, Agriculture department Rs. 3 lakh, Lotteries Rs. 1 lakh, Social Welfare department Rs. 1 lakh, Backward Classes Department Rs. 15 lakh, Women's Development department Rs. 15 lakh, Fisheries Welfare fund Rs. 5 lakh, Matsyafed Rs. 5 lakh, Tailor's welfare fund Rs. 2 lakh, Welfare fund for toddy tappers Rs. 32 lakh, Coir Rs. 1 lakh, Motor workers Rs. 5 lakh, Headload workers Rs. 1 lakh, Construction workers Rs. 6 lakh, and Rs. 7.50 lakh to agriculture workers.
