Lawyers, mediapersons stand off

AG to hold talks with Acting CJ

The committee constituted to solve the disputes between lawyers and mediapersons on Thursday entrusted Advocate General (AG) C.P. Sudhakara Prasad with the responsibility of holding talks with the Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court for providing facilities for journalists to report freely court proceedings in the High Court.

The committee, headed by the AG and consisting of representatives of mediapersons and lawyers, called upon lawyers and journalists to jointly work for creating a coordinal atmosphere on court premises. The meeting of the committee was held at the AG’s chamber. The committee will again meet on August 16 and hold discussions after involving representatives of media managements in the talks, according to a press release issued by the Advocate General office. The Kerala High Court Advocates’ Association had demanded inclusion of representatives of the managements on the committee.
