Soon, land tax can be paid online in the district.
The facility will be introduced along with the implementation of online mutation of property in the remaining 54 villages in the district by August.
Efforts have been intensified to bring the entire district under the coverage of online mutation. Presiding over a district-level review meeting of the project at his chamber on Monday, District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla said that efforts in this direction were in the final stages.
Digitisation of basic tax register and ‘thandapper’ in all 54 villages was expected to be completed by August. Already, online mutation has been introduced in 73 villages where resurvey has been completed in connection with the digitisation of land documents. So far, 22 lakh-odd documents have been digitised. The digitisation process in the remaining 54 villages has already been started.
Mr. Safirulla directed tehsildars to ensure that the project, which was aimed at the transparent and time-bound completion of mutation, was functioning without a hitch.
Landowners who intend to sell their land have to collect the ‘thandapper’ account from the village office concerned before preparing title deed, and create fresh title deed accordingly. Subsequently, the newly created document will be foolproof, and it will help the buyer to avoid all sorts of problems regarding the land in the future.
As soon as the document gets registered, it will be scanned by the sub registrar concerned and sent to the village officer concerned, and it will be processed without any further application. The online methodology will eliminate the delay in mutation besides making the whole process transparent. Separate provision has been made in the software for documents that have already been registered but for which online mutation was yet to be completed.
