KUFOS invites applications for its programmes

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has invited applications from aspirants for its various academic and research programmes for the new academic year.

The postgraduate and diploma courses are being offered by the seven schools under the varsity that include School of Aquaculture and Biotechnology; School of Fisheries Resource Management and Harvest Technology; School of Aquatic Food Products and Technology; School of Ocean Science and Technology; School of Ocean Engineering and Underwater Technology; School of Fishery Environment; and School of Management and Entrepreneurship.

As per an official release, the courses offer a lot of job prospects for the aspirants. The estimate manpower recruitment in Fisheries, Ocean Studies and allied sectors by 2025 is estimated at 32 lakh. Postgraduates clearing the ARS competitive examination conducted by the Agriculture Scientists Recruitment Board, New Delhi, have opportunities in ICAR, Central Institutes of Fisheries viz. CIFE, Mumbai, CIFA, Bhubaneswar, CIBA, Chennai, CMFRI, Kochi, CIFT, Kochi, CIFRI, Kolkata, NBFGR, Lucknow and DCFR, Bhimtal.

Students successfully completing the programmes will get openings as marine environmental scientist, geologist, geographer, geophysicist, hydrographer, oceanographer or mining engineer at various organisations in the country and abroad. They will also find employment in fishing and shipping industries besides working in institutions such as ONGC, GSI, Indian Meteorology Department, NIO, NIOT, NRSA, and ISRO.
