January 30, 2013 09:18 am | Updated 09:18 am IST - KOCHI:

The functioning of the Kudumbasree Railway ticket counter at the Kakkanad Civil Station will be expanded, said Rajesh Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Thiruvananthapuram, on Tuesday.

He made the statement after visiting the ‘Jansadharan’ counter along with District Collector Sheikh Pareeth. He was satisfied with the arrangements and the functioning of the counter, according to a press release issued here.

By introducing one more terminal for issuing tickets, the rush at Tatkal tickets counter would be minimised. Mr. Agarwal said that all types of services like issue of season and concession tickets would be available from the counter. The Kudumbasree counter is the best among other Jansadharan counters in the State, he further informed. Online display boards will also be installed giving details of arrivals and departures of trains at different stations of Ernakulam district. Permission will be given to Kudumbasree workers to put up kiosks in railway stations for commercial purposes and training will be given in more services connected with ticketing, he also said. The highest number of ticket booking forms is distributed from this counter among other Jansadharan counters in the State.
