As part of a branding exercise launched on Thursday, the eateries managed by Kudumbasree units in the city will sport a modern look and offer better amenities to customers.
The eateries functioning from the buildings of Kochi Corporation will now have a common brand name, Kochi Kudumbasree Café.
The branding was carried out for the eateries functioning from the main office building of the Corporation, and the buildings of the civic body at Vyttila and Fort Kochi zonal offices.
Updated menu
Modern furniture and cutlery have been procured. The interiors have been spruced up and menu updated. Women running the restaurants will be provided uniforms—green churidar and white overcoats. Menu cards have also been made available for the customers, said an official of the Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project (KSUDP), which has supported the modernisation drive.
The Kochi Corporation supported the initiative by providing funds. The KSUDP too extended support for the project by releasing funds from its Poverty Social Fund.
The project is expected to improve the livelihood of as many as 40 women workers.
Mayor Tony Chammany launched the branding exercise at a function held at the canteen of the main office. Deputy Mayor B. Bhadra and other civic representatives too attended the launch ceremony. There are four canteens managed by Kudumbasree members in Kochi.
