Krishna Iyer wants Kerala to emulate TN in RWH

April 12, 2010 04:15 pm | Updated 04:16 pm IST - KOCHI:

The former judge of the Supreme Court, V.R. Krishna Iyer, has written to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to send a few experts to Kochi to educate the people on rainwater harvesting.

In a fax message to Mr. Karunanidhi, Mr. Iyer pointed out that tanks and lakes were being thoughtlessly filled up in Kochi. Since Tamil Nadu had, under Mr. Karunanidhi's rule, become a model for rainwater harvesting policy initiative, Mr. Iyer urged him to send a few technicians to Kochi. Mr. Iyer, in another fax message to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan stressed the need for launching a campaign for rainwater harvesting in the State.

He said such an initiative was being launched in Kochi and wanted the Chief Minister to ask the Ernakulam Collector to support it.
