Several places other than Goa may soon come under the police radar as the interrogation of Midhun C. Vilasan alias DJ Kokaachi, the key accused in the rave party case, has given multiple leads to the investigating team.
The initial focus was on Goa after the accused reportedly confessed that the coastal State was the source of drugs.
Police think that DJ Kokaachi could be the kingpin of a drug racket in Kochi and provide information leading to a larger drug cartel.
“The focus now is solely on Kokaachi and he is cooperating with the interrogation,” a senior official told The Hindu .
He, however, discounted a possible link between the cocaine case involving film actor Shine Tom Chacko and the rave party case till up to this point.
Police team in Goa
It is learnt that a city police team is already in Goa verifying the information received on the basis of Kokaachi’s custodial interrogation.
“He is unlikely to be taken to Goa, instead we would keep on verifying his confessions on our own,” another official in the knowhow said. The investigating team is yet to seek the help of Goa police.
Police rejected Kokaachi’s allegation that the drugs seized by the police from the car used by him were planted.
One released
Meanwhile, the police released on bail Edappally-based Mahir Jaleel, 25, alias Eldane, who also goes by the name Hyberbock in DJ circles. He was arrested after summoning for interrogation on Wednesday evening.
Police said that he along with Kokaachi had organised the party and was instrumental in bringing in Vasily Markelov, the Russian DJ. He had been slapped with sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act for abetting and remaining silent despite having prior knowledge about the distribution of drugs.
