Dr. Manmohan Singh will arrive at the Naval airport on Wednesday to inaugurate the Emerging Kerala meet
All preparations have been made for the arrival of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Kochi, said District Collector P.I. Sheikh Pareed and City Police Commissioner M.R. Ajith Kumar.
Dr. Manmohan Singh will arrive at the Naval airport on Wednesday at 11.25 a.m., where he will be officially welcomed. He will then inaugurate the Emerging Kerala meet at the Le Meridien.
Dr. Singh will then go to Thrissur by helicopter to attend a function at Kerala Kalamandalam. He will inaugurate the Kochi metro rail project at Marine Drive on Thursday at 10.35 a.m. and then the 50 anniversary celebrations of Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) at Fine Arts Hall at 10.55 a.m. The Prime Minister will leave from the Naval Airport at 11.50 a.m.
Traffic will be regulated during the Prime Minister’s visit. Traffic along the stretch between Thoppumpady BOT Bridge and Venduruthy Vikrant Bridge, from BOT Bridge to Kundannur Junction along National Highway-47A and Alexander Parambithara Bridge and Vathuruthy-Bristo Road up to south end of Willingdon Island will be restricted between 10.45 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2.30 p.m., to 3.30 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Traffic will be restricted from Willingdon Island to DCC Junction in M.G. Road, along Vathuruthy and Venduruthy Vikrant Bridge and also along Old Thevara Road, Foreshore Road, Warriam Road, Diwan’s Road, Durbar Hall Road, Park Avenue and from southern end of Shanmugham Road up to Police Club Junction between 9.15 a.m. and 12.15 p.m. on Thursday.
Parking will be fully restricted along these roads from 5 a.m. onwards on Wednesday till 1 p.m. on Thursday. Any vehicle found parked along these roads will be immediately removed using recovery vans, said a press release by the police. Vehicles coming for the Emerging Kerala meet at Le Meridien should be parked at Agriculture Market, Maradu; Fisheries University premises and Palm Fibre site, Maradu.
