The police special squad investigating the triple murder in Muvattupuzha has intensified the search for Kunnappallil George, 65, suspected to be behind the death of his wife Mary (62), daughter Reeja, 33, and son Manu, 32.

Mr. George has been absconding since the three were found murdered in their house on Tuesday night. The squad led by Circle Inspector Famous Varghese and Sub Inspector P.S. Shiju was split in to two teams on Thursday.

While the team led by the Circle Inspector continued the search in the district, the other team has begun its search outside the State. Investigating officials expressed hope of netting Mr. George within two days. The bodies were laid to rest at St. George Church cemetery in East Maradu on Thursday.

George and Mary were retired teachers. According to initial reports, Reeja and Manu had symptoms of mental illness. The post-mortem report revealed that deep head injuries caused by some blunt, sharp-edged weapon were the cause of death.

The police have been unable to identify any real motive for the murders.
