The Kochi Metro rail project is yet to get clearance from the Union government, M. Vijayakumar, Minister for Law, said here on Friday. Answering a question during an informal interaction with the media on the sidelines of a meeting of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, he said the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs would have to give its clearance for the project. The Minister had already taken up the issue with the Prime Minister and a report from the CCEA was expected soon, he said. The Planning Commission had cleared the project earlier.

In reply to another question, the Minister said the preparations for hosting the National Games 2010 were in progress and there was absolutely no problem in completing the facilities well before the event. A Kerala Games will be conducted prior to the event, he said.
