Kochi book festival from December 1

Balamaniamma Puraskaram, Media Award to be presented

The 21st Kochi International Book Festival (KIBF) will begin on December 1 at the Ernakulam Siva Temple ground. Ananth Kumar Hegde, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, will inaugurate the festival.

The Kochi Literary Festival, part of the 10-day book festival, will be held from December 6 to 10. There will be seminars on various topics every day and cultural programmes in the evening, the organisers said at a press conference on Monday. BTH and St. Teresa’s College will also host programmes.

The Balamaniamma Puraskaram instituted by the KIBF will be presented to writer K. L. Mohana Varma and the Media Award to senior journalist Thomas Jacob. Gita Press, Choukhamba Varanasi, Penguin Books, Kendra Sahitya Academy, Sangeeta Nataka Academy, Lalithakala Akademi, McMillan, Jaico, and West Land are among participants in the festival.
