: The Kerala High Court on Thursday made it clear that the KMRL could continue its works on the acquired land at Lissie junction after paying 80 per cent of the estimated land value to the land owner on December 12.
When the petition filed by land owner, Kumari Sebastin, came up before K. Surendra Mohan, the government pleader assured the court that a cheque on 80 per cent of the land value would be handed over to the petitioner on December 12.
The land owner also submitted that she would produce the title deeds and execute the necessary agreement regarding acceptance of the compensation on the day before the Deputy Collector, Metro Rail.
The court had earlier stayed the works of metro on the land till 80 per cent of the amount of the estimated value of the land was paid to the land owner.
As per the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 the authorities were bound to pay eighty per cent of the value to the landowners before taking over the land.
