The ordeal of residents in Kaloor and nearby areas where there was no water for two days was over by Thursday afternoon.

Though the repair work of the 600 mm water pipeline that broke at the Kochi Metro worksite got over by noon, they faced more trouble when the road caved into the pit that was dug for repairing the pipeline.

Though the road was supported by sand bags, the pressure of the vehicles on the surface took its toll.

The workers also had to plug a leak that had developed after the repairs were completed.

After the road caved in, traffic near Lisie Junction was diverted along the A.L. Jacob overbridge. KWA officials said that the diversion helped in faster completion of the work. blocking the traffic helped the work to be completed faster.
