The Kadambrayar is now flowing with new life. Weeds that had spread out in the river are getting cleared, and a clean-up drive is in progress.

The weeds and the waste that had accumulated on both sides of the river had hampered its natural flow. District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla had ordered the executive engineer of the Irrigation Department to take up work on cleaning the river as part of a special drive. Mr. Safirulla said in a statement that the cleaning programme would be completed by the second week of the month.

So far, weeds from the upper side of Manaykkadavu has been fully removed. Eighty per cent of the two-kilometre stretch from Brahmapuram bridge to Kozhichira has been cleaned up, while cleaning of about 500 metres of the river up to Edachira canal has been completed. The rest of the identified area will be cleaned up in the coming days. The work done so far has enabled boating in the area from Manaykkadavu to Brahmapuram bridge.
