International meet of oral and maxillofacial surgeons in Kochi

Over 1,300 delegates, including some from abroad, from abroad are expected to attend the 34th International Conference of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, to be held here from November 25 to 28.

The conference will discuss the latest trends in the management of oral cancer, treatment of developmental and acquired diseases of face and mouth, current trends in the management of facial injuries, and advances in oral implantology, Dr George Varghese, Organising Secretary, told reporters here on Monday.

Over 700 scientific papers will be presented by experts in the field as well as by trainees from India and delegates from England, USA and other European countries, he said.

Compared to developed countries facial injuries following road traffic accidents and the incidence of oral cancer is on the rise in India, he said.
