Actor Innocent would have met his double more than once on screen, but it was on Thursday evening that he met one in real life.

A wax statue made by artist Sunil Kandalloor was a surprising take even for the actor. The likeness was so faultless that he doubted whether somebody would misuse the statue to impersonate him when he was not in town.

“I should be more careful from now onwards,” Innocent said, sparking off a laugh riot among the audience that turned up to watch the statue.

Praising Mr. Kandalloor, who has carved a niche for himself by creating unique wax models, the actor said his statue was made in one-and-a-half months.

Actor Mohanlal, who unveiled the statue, said the work was a gift to an actor who had succeeded in making the audience think through the laughter he evoked on screen and outside. He said Innocent has earned respect from various quarters through his inimitable style.

Mr. Kandalloor said the statue would be kept at the celebrity wax museum to be launched soon in Mumbai. It will have wax statues of leading stars in the country. The artist has also received appreciation for the wax statues set up at a private water theme park near Kanyakumari
