A four-day exhibition of industrial machinery will be inaugurated at the Kalamassery Municipal Town Hall on Tuesday. The exhibition is slated to begin at 11 a.m., said a press release from the District Industries Centre here.
Machineries related to food processing, textiles making, plastic and paper product, packaging, building products etc will be on show. There will also be seminars on food safety issues and rules, export procedures, international trade and cluster development as part of the exhibition. The District Industries Centre in Ernakulam has been engaged in awareness creation and holding seminars to attract new entrepreneurs, said the press release. It said that nearly 150 new enterprises, involving investments to the tune of Rs. 25 lakh each had been launched in the district. The total investments have been around Rs. 126 crore. These enterprises have created about 1,000 jobs.
A total of Rs. 346 crore investments have been realised through 1,885 new enterprises during the current financial year. These new units have provided employment to 13,056 people.
