Imtiaz murder: kin allege laxity in probe

March 24, 2013 12:35 am | Updated 12:35 am IST - KOCHI:

The kin of Imtiaz Khan, the young businessman who was found murdered in his car on December 26 in the city, have alleged that the ongoing police probe is not heading in the right direction.

Ramla, Imtiaz’s mother, said the police did not make any effort to track the person from Palluruthy and Noushad, who allegedly took Imtiaz to Cherthala to attend a wedding the day he was murdered. Addressing a press meet at the Press Club here, Firoz Khan, Imtiaz’s brother, said media reports hinting at his brother having contacts with goondas were false. The police’s laxity had prompted them to request for investigation by another agency.

He said he met Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan at Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday and the Minister promised to transfer the case to the Crime Branch.
