Imposition of prohibition demanded

April 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:31 am IST - KOCHI:

Kerala Madhya Virudha Ekopana Samithi, a combine of organisations working for a total ban on liquor in the State has demanded that the State government impose total prohibition after the recent example set by Bihar.

A statement issued by the samithi said that the society in Kerala demanded a total ban on alcoholic drinks and that more than abstinence from the use of liquor, what was needed was a ban.

The demand for total prohibition came at a meeting of the samithi held at the Renewal Centre, Kaloor, where former judge of the High Court of Kerala P. K. Shamsudheen, chairman of the samithi, presided.
