Martyr’s Day observance by the Fire and Rescue Services in Thrissur on Friday.

The Fire and Rescue Services observed Martyr’s Day here on Friday to pay homage to those fire fighters who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties.

The Fire and Rescue Services Academy, Viyyur, organised a padayatra of 101 fire service personnel.

Varghese Kandamkulathi, Deputy Mayor of Thrissur Corporation, handed over the torch to the fire fighters in front of the Thrissur Corporation Office.

The main objective of the event was to familiarise the toll free number of ‘Fire and Rescue Services – 101’ with the common people.

The 'yathra' received warm welcomes at Fire and Rescue Station, Thrissur, Swapna Junction, East Fort, Museum premises, Sports Council premises, Aswini Junction, Viyyur Power House Junction and at Pallimmoola Junction.

On reaching the Fire and Rescue Service Academy, a commemoration parade was held there to pay homage to the martyrs.
