The man, and the woman, both youngsters, hailing from Kasaragod, had got married in Ernakulam on February 25 following an order from the court.

Earlier, when the two were produced before the High Court on February 10 following a habeas corpus petition from her father, they had submitted that they had decided to get married and live together.

During their interaction with the court, they had expressed their desire to get married in Ernakulam as the man had received a threat through WhatsApp and the woman too was threatened by unknown persons while she was staying in a hostel in Ernakulam.

Following the instructions of the court, the marriage was registered by the Registrar of Marriage, Badiadka, at SNV Sadanam Hostel, Ernakulam, where the woman was staying. Tom Jose Padinjarekkara, Additional Director General of Prosecution, submitted that the Ernakulam Central police and the Kasaragod Vidyanagar police had registered cases regarding the threats received by the couple.
