High Court grants bail to two more in Kochi cocaine case

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday granted bail to two more accused in a case relating to the seizure of cocaine from a flat in the city.

Actor Shine Tom Chacko and four other accused in the case are on bail following an earlier High Court order to grant them bail.

The two other accused who got bails are Jasbir Singh and Prithviraj. The police had charged that the two accused, who hailed from Chennai, had helped the first two accused Reshma Rengaswamy and Blessy Sylvester to engage in cocaine trade.

Justice B. Kemal Pasha ordered their release on their executing a bond for Rs.1 lakh each with two solvent sureties to the like sum.

The other conditions were that they should surrender their passport and furnish their place of residence and mobile phone numbers to the investigation officer and should report before the investigation officer on all Thursdays and Fridays from May 26.

The petitioners should not leave the State without prior permission of the court, till the disposal of the case.

The court observed that the accused could be enlarged on conditional bail in view of the period undergone by them in custody and also the facts and circumstances of the case. Besides, the investigation into the case was practically over.

The court also pointed out that that final report had already been filed against the five other accused before the magistrate court concerned.
