Herbal gruel distributed

July 17, 2013 11:31 pm | Updated 11:31 pm IST - KOCHI:

‘Karkidakakanji’, a special porridge made by adding herbs to rice gruel, which is usually consumed during the Malayalam month of Karkidakam to rejuvenate oneself, has now become a favourite among health conscious Keralites. In keeping with the trend, District Panchayat Vice-President Bindu George inaugurated a ‘Karkidakakanji’ distribution event here on Wednesday.

Ms. George said that the changing lifestyle and the presence of chemicals in food were a serious issue affecting the health of the people. Consuming Karkidakakanji would help rejuvenate the system and cleanse the body of all impurities.

A class on the techniques of boosting health during the month of Karkidakam was held on the occasion. Ayurveda physicians say ‘Karkidakam' is the time for rejuvenation.

The meeting was presided over by the Health Education Standing Committee chairman K.K. Soman.
