HC rejects yachting team’s plea

January 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:41 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by a member of the Kerala yachting team seeking a directive to the Kerala State Sports Council to provide yachts and other facilities for participating in the yachting event in the National Games.

The petition was filed by K.R. Saneesh of Kannur. The petitioner argued that Rs.8 lakh had to be spent for a yacht. The team members were not in a position to meet the expenses. The government pleader pointed out that the Indian Olympic Association mandated that the participant should bring yachts for the event. The court observed there was absolutely no tenable ground to pass an order.
