HC moved for sewage plant

State challenges stay

July 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - KOCHI:

The State government on Thursday filed a writ petition in the High Court, challenging the order of the National Green Tribunal staying the construction of a sewage treatment plant at Vengeri in Kozhikode. The government said suspending the implementation of the Rs.30-crore project caused huge loss to it.

The government will be in serious financial crisis if the project was held up. It will have to repay a huge amount to the Asian Development Bank if the project was delayed.

In fact, more than 10 per cent of works are over.
