HC issues notice to Kerala

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) and the State government on a petition seeking compensation filed by legal heirs of a pilgrim from Tamil Nadu who died in 2011at Sabarimala.

The notice was issued by Justice P.N. Ravindran and Justice Anil K. Narendran on a petition filed by U. Pandi Lakshmi of Sivakasi and her three children. According to her, her husband Udaya Sankar died at Sabarimala in July 16, 2011 following cardiac arrest.

The government had directed the TDB in 2013 to pay Rs.2 lakh to the petitioner as compensation. However, the TDB was yet to pay her the amount.
