HC disposes of petition

October 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - KOCHI:

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Thursday disposed of a public interest writ petition seeking a directive to the State government to fully utilise the funds collected through Bhoomigeetham, a musical evening organised for buying land for the landless poor.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice Ashok Bhutan and Justice A.M. Shaffique observed that it was for the government to look into these issues. The petitioner Khalid Mudamppally had alleged non-utilisation of the funds.

The court further observed that while implementing such a scheme, leverage should be given to the officials who are conducting it.
