February 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - KOCHI:

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday asked the Bar Council of Kerala to deal with a complaint alleging professional misconduct against Advocate General K.P. Dandapani in accordance with the law. Justice P.R. Ramachandra Menon, while disposing of a writ petition filed by Mr. Dandapani, asked the complainant, advocate J.S. Ajithkumar, to place the matter before the bar council.

The court observed that it was for the Bar Council of Kerala to deal with the complaint and further steps could be taken in accordance with the law. According to Mr. Dandapani, T.H. Abdul Azeez, former chairman of the Bar Council of Kerala, had no power to issue notice to him under the Advocates Act or the Bar Council Rules on such a complaint.

He pointed out that allegations in the complaint that his wife Sumathy Dandapani and son Millu Dandapani were filing cases against the State government on the basis of his advice were baseless.
