HC airs stance on NGT case

July 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:59 am IST - KOCHI:

A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Tuesday made it clear that an interim order passed by a single judge staying an order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Kochi Circuit Bench, banning diesel vehicles over ten years in six cities in the State and restraining registration of new 2,000 cc and above diesel vehicles will not stand in the way of the tribunal considering the contentions to be raised at its hearing on July 29 in the case.

The Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Anu Sivaraman passed the order when an appeal filed by the Lawyers Environmental Awareness Forum (LEAF) against the single judge’s stay order came up for hearing.
