The City Police have strengthened security arrangements in the city to face the hartal called by the LDF on Tuesday. Police vehicles will be present at railway stations and bus terminals to move passengers stranded at these points.

Three vehicles will be put into service and they will be conducting services connecting the main roads.

Police patrols will be increased to cover the whole city during hartal hours.

Pickets will be set up at main junctions in the city and government offices to check untoward incidents. Public can call Control Room Number 100 or Crime Stopper 1090 in case of emergency, said senior police officials.

In a related development, the Ernakulam District Agri-Horti Culture Society has changed the timings of the ongoing Cochin Mango Show from 5 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday due to the LDF hartal.

The Mango Show will end on Wednesday at 9.30 p.m.
