Save FACT Action Committee, a combine of trade unions at the public sector fertilizer company, said here on Sunday that the dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district it has called for on Monday had been forced upon it by the government.
The Action Committee has also called for rail blockade on Monday and a 24-hour industrial strike, starting midnight on Sunday, to press for its demand for clearance of long-pending financial revival package for the company, which was recommended by the Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises.
There has been no response from the government despite a seven-month-long protest action to highlight the poor financial condition of the company, said a press release here from the committee.
It said that though the call for the hartal was given 14 days ago there had not been any move on the part of the government to call the protesting workers for a reconciliation meeting.
The Private Bus Operators Federation said that private buses will keep off the roads.
Meanwhile, the statement from FACT union blamed the Union and State ministers for their failure to give an assurance that the FACT revival package would be approved before the UPA government’s term ended on May 16.
