Hanuman Sena activist held on charge of extortion

The Kochi city police on Monday arrested a Hanuman Sena activist on charge of extortion. The accused, identified as M.S. Sanal, a native of Palluruthy, was arrested from a lodge on Broadway.

He was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by one Johnson, a native of Maradu.

As per the complaint, Sanal, along with two others, approached Johnson at the construction site of his house and sought Rs.2 lakh after threatening him. The police identified the trio as members of the Akhila Bharatheeya Hanuman Sena.

One of the co-accused, G.Santosh Kumar, is the district secretary of the outfit and was wanted in connection with a case of robbery in a drug store at Palarivattom. The third accused, identified as Shameer, was also wanted in several robbery and assault cases.

More complaints

The trio are believed to have committed several offences in different parts of Kochi and Thrissur. The police are expecting more complaints against them in the coming days.
