Grocery shopping goes online in Kochi

You can order your groceries online with palacharakku.com and within a few hours your order will be delivered at your doorstep.

Call it Kochi’s version of Flipkart or even grocer’s Flipkart, but palacharakku.com promises to deliver the goods, literally.

You can order your groceries online with palacharakku.com and within a few hours your order will be delivered at your doorstep. The start-up, set up by three 23-year-old engineering graduates, was launched by Food Minister Anoop Jacob here on Friday.

At a news conference, the young entrepreneurs said they had tie-ups with a few super markets in the city and that depending on the location of the customer, the goods would be sourced from the nearest supermarket. The groceries would be delivered within a five-km radius of the store by goods autorickshaw.

They explained that customers could order either through the website or by the phone (98955-95545 or 0484-6008700) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The orders received before 4 p.m. would be delivered between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. and those received late would be delivered the next morning. If the customer wanted to make changes in the order, it could be done within one hour of placing the order. Each order will be charged a service fee of Rs. 30.There would be no upper limit for an order.

The threesome said palacharakku.com would be boon to home-makers and working couples alike as it would help the save time, money and a lot of hassle.
