The Left Democratic Front (LDF) government will soon look into the apprehensions raised by front partners regarding the Vizhinjam port.
The next meeting of the Cabinet would take a closer look at the various aspects related to the setting up of the port, including the agreement entered into between the previous State government and a private firm for establishing the port, Minister for Ports Kadannappally Ramachandran has said.
Taking part in a meet-the-press programme here on Sunday, Mr. Ramachandran said the government did not want to obstruct the construction or implementation of the project.
A relook
However, a relook into the complaints raised by the LDF while in Opposition was warranted and discussions in the Cabinet and the LDF were required for the purpose.
The State government’s position on the project would be finalised then, he said.
A meeting of senior officials related to the project would be convened.
The government would look into the contractual agreements and find out which all documents could be made accessible to the general public, he said.
The Minister said a guideline for the development of small ports in the State would be drawn up.
