Kerala government has approved KITCO’s scheme to widen the 13-km stretch of the Tripunithura-Poothotta Road to four lanes. The proposal to widen Vytilla-Kaniampuzha-Eroor Road has also been given the nod.
The roads will thus have a width of 22 metres and 10 metres respectively. The approval comes in the wake of a meeting convened at Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, co-chaired by Minister for Public Works V.K. Ebrahim Kunju and Excise Minister K. Babu.
Owners who surrender land free of cost will be given transfer of development rights (TDR), Mr. Kunju said. Land acquisition for Poothotta Road is expected to cost Rs. 135 crore.
Tripunithura bypass The meeting also decided to seek Centre’s nod to acquire land for Mattakuzhi-Tiruvankulam-Kundanoor Tripunithura Bypass Road. PWD Secretary T.O. Sooraj was among those present.
