Former BJP leader Govindacharya has scotched rumours that he is going to rejoin the party. At a 'meet the press' programme organised by the Ernakulam Press Club here on Thursday, he said he had resigned from the party out of his disillusionment with the happenings within the party which had failed to meet the social goals.

He said he had no conflict with anyone while relinquishing the party membership. At present, he was coordinating activities of various social groups to further the cause of social development under a new organisation, Bharat Vikas Sangama.

Idealism has taken a back seat and all political parties including the BJP, communists and Congress have become pro-rich, he said.

"I am determined to carve out a better future in my own way', he said. New activists and new organisations were required to meet the challenges faced by the country on the economic and social fronts, he said.
