Gold seized from Nedumbassery

Gold was seized from from a passenger who arrived from Dubai at Nedumbassery international airport. Mohammad Arshad, 32, of Kasaragod, was detained by the Customs officials on the suspicion that he was carrying contraband items.

Officials examined his luggage to find a sheet of gold concealed in a box of incense, two gold discs inside watches, eight gold buttons on a purdah and five gold rings fixed on a handbag. Customs officials said the gold was of 24 carat purity and weighed about 478.2 g.
