The excise team investigating the seizure of drugs worth ₹84 lakh two weeks ago has arrested a Goa native, who has been allegedly supplying party drugs to users in Kochi.

The accused, identified as Deepak S. Kalan Gudkar (48), was arrested from Mapusa in northern Goa. Acting on a tip-off, an excise team approached him posing as customers and took him into custody.

The investigators had also taken Saneesh Sarvothaman, who had landed in the excise net last month while allegedly peddling drugs, along with them to Goa for identifying the racketeers and their area of operation.

During the interrogation, the accused told the sleuths that he had been buying the synthetic drugs from a Nigerian national, who reportedly procured the narcotic from Jammu and Kashmir.

“Gudkar, who acts as a middleman between the Nigerian and retail clients, sold the drug at 10 times the procured price’’, officials said. After the interrogation, Gudkar was produced in a court, which remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.
