A one-day National Gericon-2009 (Geriatric Conference) organised by Cooperative Medical College, Kochi and IMA Committee for the care of Elderly, will be held here on October 1.
Speaking to mediapersons here today, Dr Roy A Kallivayalil, Principal, Cooperative Medical College, Kochi, said the experts would hold discussions on various topics of current medical interest.
Since World Elder's Day falls on Oct 1, some prominent personalities, including former Supreme Court Judge V R Krishna Iyer and Dr M V Pylee, former Vice-chancellor, Cochin University of Science and Technology would be honoured, he said IMA National committee for the care of elderly was formed in 2006 to take care of the physical and emotional needs of the elderly, he said.
