After controversial findings by a local fund audit committee, the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) is now faced with another allegation of financial misdemeanour.

K.T. Cheshire, a resident of Kadavanthra, has approached the Vigilance Directorate alleging corruption by the GCDA in the name of maintaining a garden on its premises and for the construction of a park on a 30-cent property. As per the complaint, the agency has spent about Rs. 25 lakh over the last four years towards the maintenance of a garden on the premises of its office at Kadavanthra. The complaint also showed that about Rs. 6 lakh had been expended under the head of transportation of water for irrigation. The complainant, however, pointed out that the GCDA possessed a water connection and hence there was no need to bring water from elsewhere for the purpose.
