A.K. Sheshadri, 81, former Kochi Mayor who had played a crucial role in the development of Kochi city, died on Wednesday. He was the fifth Mayor of Kochi. A lawyer by profession, Sheshadri had also served as the last chairman of Kochi Municipality. He was also actively involved in the development of Greater Cochin area too. He had served as the president of the Ernakulam Bar Association and vice-president of All India Mayors’ Council. Funeral was held at Ravipuram crematorium.
Remembering the contributions of Seshadri, Kochi Mayor Tony Chammany said he was instrumental in developing the bus stand at Kaloor and the shopping complex, the jankar service of Mattanchery and improving the facilities of the Relief Settlement at Palluruthy.
