: K.G. Satyavrathan, a former CPI(M) leader, is among the list of candidates declared by the Congress-led United Democratic Front, contesting from Mekkara ward to be part of the Tripunithura Municipal Council.

R. Venugopal, chairman of Tripunithura Municipality, contesting from the Statue ward, Thilothama Suresh, Vice chairperson, contesting from Thiruvamkulam and P.B. Satheesan, INTUC leader contesting from Pisharikovil are among the prominent sitting councillors entering the fray this time too.

A new face in politics, Dr. Geeta Sajeevan, contesting from Choorakkad, is said to be one of the probable chairperson candidate in the list. The candidate list has over 50 per cent new faces.
