Single window clearance promised to entrepreneurs who come with comprehensive fisheries policy

The event was organised by the Andaman and Nicobar administration and the Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair in association with CIFT and Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), said a release issued here.

Presiding over the programme, Anindo Mazumdar, Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar administration, highlighted the importance of fisheries for the economic growth of the islands.

Being endowed with an abundant wealth of unexploited marine fishery resources, it held promise for investors and emerging entrepreneurs. The administration would provide single window clearance to interested entrepreneurs and come out with a comprehensive fisheries policy, he said.

Ramesh Verma, Secretary (Fishery), Aandaman and Nicobar administration said the administration would extend all support to entrepreneurs for starting ventures. S. Dam Roy, Director, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, in his presentation, provided information about fisheries resource available in the islands and in particular about tuna resources, which were under exploited.
