Fishermen to take out protest march today

Fishermen will take out a protest march to the office of the chairman of the Cochin Port Trust on Wednesday morning. The march is in protest against the alleged assault of a fisherman by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.

The fisherman was in fishing in Mulavukadu police station limits when he was allegedly attacked. Police sources said Prathapan of Puthuvype was suspected to be in restricted area when the CISF personnel challenged him. On the basis of a complaint lodged by the fisherman, a case was registered at Mulavukadu police station. The protest march will start from Embarkation Jetty on Willingdon Island at 9 a.m.
