Shortage of doctors and medical staff was one of the major complaints received at the first Health Adalat held in the district at the General Hospital here on Tuesday.
Health Minister V.S. Sivakumar, who presided over the adalat, said casualty care services would be started in all taluk-level hospitals. Special consideration would be given to senior citizens in all hospitals.
The adalat looked into 115 of the 221 complaints received through the District Medical Office. All complaints would be settled within a month, said the Minister. The district’s special health package would be chalked out based on the complaints. He said the government would take a decision on increasing the number of doctors and other medical staff.
The State government had sanctioned Rs.2 crore for the district’s long-standing demand for a homoeopathy hospital, he said.
A sum of Rs.50 lakh from the regional developmental fund of Hibi Eden, MLA, would be used to renovate the homoeopathy hospital under the district panchayat.
The homoeopathy hospital at Muvattupuzha would also be renovated at a cost of Rs.35 lakh.
A new ayurveda dispensary would be set up at Edavanakkad for which Rs.10 lakh has been sanctioned. The ayurveda hospital at Sreemoolanagaram would be expanded. Anwar Sadat, MLA, has sanctioned Rs.52 lakh for the expansion.
A total of Rs.15 lakh has been sanctioned to provide cochlear implants to children with hearing impairment at the General Hospital.
The Minister said the honorarium for ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers had been raised.
