Fire safety plan for General Hospital

January 17, 2012 12:41 pm | Updated October 18, 2016 01:15 pm IST - KOCHI:

The Government has sanctioned Rs. 10 lakh to the District General Hospital to equip the hospital with fire equipment and have a floor plan for a Fire Exit.

This was sanctioned when the hospital authorities submitted a full project for fire safety in the backdrop of the Kolkata fire tragedy at AMRI Hospital.

Project

The General Hospital already had the project in place that was part of the upgrading of quality recommended by the National Accreditation Board for Hospital.

However, the funds were not forthcoming from the Government.

The government diktat had also come in for various hospitals to have their fire status upgraded in association with the local fire officers.

The activities include having a fire exit plan ready with signages in case of any emergency.

All hospitals

All hospitals with IP facilities are expected have their fire status checked while dispensaries and hospitals with only OP need to have fire extinguishers.
