All pending works for the FIFA Under-17 World Cup matches will be completed before May 30, the deadline set by the agency, Minister A.C. Moideen has said.
He was speaking to reporters after inspecting the amenities at the International Stadium at Kaloor and nearby practice grounds. All the areas have been grass-topped. Drainage, sewage treatment, and AC works will be over by mid-May.
Meanwhile, work is under way to build rooms and adequate number of toilets, apart from augmenting power supply and fire safety measures. Workers have been deployed in three shifts.
Altogether 11,500 chairs will been installed at the venue in four days, Mr. Moideen said.
The daily progress of works is being monitored directly by the tournament’s nodal officer, District Collector, and GCDA Chairman.
Flood lights for the Maharaja’s College Ground have arrived. A fence is being readied around the ground at Panampilly Nagar.
