Excise Department yet to ascertain nature of seized goods

The Excise Department is yet to ascertain whether the goods that were confiscated from near the railway station here on Monday belongs to any variety of banned drugs.

The consignment, alleged to be belonging to a category of hashish, worth crores of rupees was seized by a special squad of the Department from a car near the station in Appanchira, following a tip-off.

Six persons were taken into custody in connection with the incident.

However, officials said that cases would be registered only after confirming the exact nature of the seized items.
