Excise department sweeps R-day awards in district

Motor Vehicles Inspector Naufal A. has been selected for the Chief Minister’s Transport Medal for meritorious service for 2015. Mr. Naufal is an inspector with the Department’s flying squad in Ernakulam.

The Excise Department made a clean sweep of the prizes for the Ernakulam district’s Republic Day parade celebrations held at the Collectorate in Kakkanad.

The department won the first place in the parade in the unarmed category and the best participation award. The Excise contingent also won the best float prize, which included a cash award of Rs. 10,000, for their tableau depicting the anti-liquor and narcotics message.

Excise Assistant Commissioner M.J. Joseph received the awards from Excise Minister K. Babu, who was the chief guest at the function.

Seven police officers in the Ernakulam Crime Branch’s Hurt and Homicide Wing have been selected for the Chief Minister’s police medal for meritorious service.

Detective Inspector V.K. Raju, Sub-inspector A.F. Job, Senior CPOs Augustin Varghese, Jose Augustin, P.J. Xavier, K.R. Reji, and Saji John.
